Do these Amazing Diet patches really work?It seems that every year there is a new huge weight loss phenomenon to sweep the country, why should this year be an exception. The diet patch and all the hype surrounding it seems to be everywhere. Consumers are being bombarded with television, internet, and radio ads promoting a variety of different brand diet patches. In fact the United States Federal Trade Commission recently charged several companies for using false ads through spam mail. Diet patches promote the idea that they can help users lose weight by simply wearing a patch. Maybe this is all to cash in on the success of the patch system used to help smokers beat the habit or the recent birth control patch that has been making headlines. This leaves us all needing one main question answered; does the so called amazing diet patch work? Like any medicine or diet supplement, knowing what ingredients the product contains is important. Many different diet patches contain a variety of ingredients that are known to help with weight loss. It is still debatable to weather or not the main ingredients contained in the diet patch are all that effective in promoting weight loss. Here is a list of four of the main ingredients in the diet patch. Garcinia Cambogia (hydroxycitric acid, HCA, standardized): Said to keep carbohydrates from converting into fat by inhibiting the action of the enzyme citrate lyase. There have been some positive weight loss results from HCA, despite a published study by the American Medical Association from 1998, which showed that HCA supplements failed to produce measurable weight loss.
The most promising ingredient in diet patches seems to be bladderwrack, although it shows minimal results at best. More tests and research is needed on bladderwrack to see how effective it truly is with weight loss. It is however effective in reducing blood sugar levels, which helps reduce cravings caused by insulin resistance and carbohydrate over consumption. Ingredients like chromium and guarana, while a little helpful, have minimal effects and do not lead to much actual weight loss without being accompanied by lifestyle changes. These lifestyle changes should include a healthy diet as well as regular exercise. In the end, there is nothing really promising about the amazing diet patch. There is no proven evidence that wearing a diet patch can or will help anyone lose a substantial amount of weight. Even the Federal Trade Commission has put charges against the makes of one diet patch company for false claims after they were not able to provide the FTC with any scientifically credible evidence that their product actually did what it promised. There are many web sites offering free diet patch trials or discounted prices, however, unless you feel like spending extra time and money on something that may or may not work, stick to the proven weight loss methods like dieting and exercise.
