Juice Plus Vitamins?
Cheap-Diet.com Q&A:
Dear Derek-
What do you think of the product Juice Plus?
I really like the idea of getting benefits from vegetables and fruits.
The only thing I would be careful about would be the supplemental
nature of products like Juice Plus. The fact that Juice
Plus is taken from whole food is great. But when you extract only specific
aspects of a fruit or vegetable you miss the other complementary aspects
of the food. Fiber from these foods is very beneficial to the overall
health of the body.
If you need to supplement your diet -I say yes - good stuff. But if
you can eat the fruit and vegetable whole - you will gain the entire
nutritional benefit. These foods at Whole Foods
for example come perfectly balanced - by extracting only parts you miss
some of tis natural balance.
We have a place in California called Jamba Juice. It's
a juice bar.
They blend the drinks as you wait. Really like it. I also do a supplement
myself but I also try to eat whole fruits too. Its hard though. Our society
has really built itself around pre-packaged foods. Wonder what the future
will tell us about that trend.
-Thanks for writing in, Derek. (I do not promote the product Juice Plus
nor am I an expert on this topic) If you have questions on topics on vitamins
and supplements you would like for me to research or just give my opinion

Why doesn't Juice Plus promote 2 capsules a day as well as 4
capsules a day? Of course, the standard is 4 capsules a day.
But, is there not a lot of benefit to taking JuicePlus based on other
factors that include the amout of fruit and vegetable ate during that
day?
There are so many reasons why a person may not want to take 4 a day --such
as possible irritable bowel syndrome, days when a lot of vegetables are
eaten that a person may feel comfortable with possibly just one or two
fruit capsules in the morning and possibly just 1 or zero vegetable capsules
at night.
Answer:
These are good questions. All of the studies that have been done on Juice
Plus have been done with 2 and 2. Market research tells us that if we
keep it below $40 per month, we will keep and grow our market share. People
with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other Gasto-Intestinal conditions sometimes
start slowly on JuicePlus, and usually can increase to the full dose.
I had IBS and now take 3 and 3.
One of the reasons to be consistent with 2 capsules twice a day is the
wide variety everyday. Each fruit and vegetable in Juice Plus backs up
another fruit or vegetable. Also, our product comes from vine ripened
produce that is absolutely free of pesticides and herbicides. Most of
what we buy in the market was not vine ripened, and is not very fresh.
Even organics have been found to have some pesticides, partly because
they are next to traditional veggies in the store and the water they spray,
spreads around the pesticides.
With family histories of cancer, stroke, heart disease, diabetes, and
obesity we feel Juice Plus can help keep those chances away. In our home,
we eat as many servings a day of fresh raw fruits and veggies as we can,
and we take our Juice Plus everyday. We are a family of four, and it is
not cheap. What price tag can a person put on their health?
In addition, when a person takes Juice Plus, they are looking to notice
a change or feel differently in some way. If someone just takes 1 and
1, they may not really notice anything. Sometimes on 2 and 2 people don't
notice anything. If we do a good job in educating yourself about prevention
and the research behind Juice Plus, then it shouldn't matter, however,
they some people are looking to FEEL something.
